The chief minister’s defence of the “bulldozer policy” comes in the wake of ally and minister in his government Sanjay Nishad’s recent remark that “misuse of bulldozer” led to the BJP’s loss in the state in the Lok Sabha polls.
Amid rumblings within the Uttar Pradesh unit of the BJP after the party’s poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday, in a message to his party as well as the Opposition, defended the “bulldozer policy” and said that he took the responsibility of running the government “not to do a mere “naukri” (job), but to ensure that those guilty also suffer”.
Speaking in the Assembly during the discussion of the Supplementary Budget, Adityanath said: “You are afraid of bulldozer, but it is not for innocent. It is for those criminals who play with the trust of the youth of the state, play with the security of traders and daughters of the state, spread anarchy and make common people’s life miserable.”
