Delhi blast LIVE updates: DNA test confirms Pulwama doctor was driving car that exploded near Red Fort
A day after the Centre called the Delhi car blast a ‘terror incident’, it has been confirmed that the doctor from J&K’s Pulwama, identified as Umar Nabi, was driving the car that exploded near Red Fort on Monday (November 10, 2025). The DNA samples of Umar’s mother were collected on Tuesday (November 11) and analysed along with the remains gathered from the blast site.
The doctor, who was likely the sole occupant of the car, was teaching at Faridabad’s Al-Falah University. He had possibly been trying to escape an ongoing raid by the Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh police, which has led to the arrest of eight people over the past 15 days, including three doctors.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced on Thursday (November 13) that the Lal Quila Metro Station will continue to remain closed until further notice due to security reasons. The move comes amid heightened vigilance and precautionary measures in the national capital after the car blast. All other metro stations and lines are functioning as per schedule, the DMRC said in a statement.
