Odisha Festival, by Utkala, the cultural wing of Sri Jagannath Temple, Kidderpore Celebrates Art and Devotion: A Soul-Stirring Tribute to Lord Jagannath

Kolkata, 30th June 2025: The vibrant spirit of Odisha came alive as audiences were treated to an unforgettable cultural experience at the Odisha Festival, organised by Utkala, the cultural wing of Sri Jagannath Temple, Kidderpore, where mesmerizing performances leads the audience into a profound spiritual connection with Lord Jagannath.

The 2nd day of Odisha Festival started with an inspiring Drawing Competition among children conducted by acclaimed artists Mr. Subhankar Dey and Mrs. Shrabanti Das Choudhuri, showcasing artistic interpretations of Odisha’s divine traditions and spiritual heritage. …….. no of children participated in this competition. 

Celebrating the classical dance form of Odisha, the festival featured a captivating Odissi Dance Competition led by renowned exponent Dr. Debamitra Sengupta. Her direction and the performances that followed brought to life the grace and devotion integral to Odissi dance, leaving the audience deeply moved. . …….. no of children participated in this competition. 

The evening culminated in a deeply devotional Bhajan Sandhya, presented by the soulful voices of Rabindra Mahapatra, Susanta Nayak, and Lopita Behera. Their melodious bhajans evoked a serene and devotional atmosphere, drawing everyone into a collective celebration of faith. Sri Ashim Basu, Hon’ble Councilor Ward no 70, Kolkata Municipality Corporation, Mr Chandrasekhar Panigrahi, President Sri Jagannath Seva Samiti, Kidderpore, Shri Guru Prasad Pattnaik, President of Utkala, Shri Parshuram Bisoyi, Vice President, Shri Jagannath Seva Samiti Kidderpore Jagannath Temple, Shri Pramod Kumar Jena, Secretary, Shri Jagannath Seva Samiti, Kidderpore  Jagannath Temple, Shri Saroj Mallik, Secretary, Utkala and  temple sevayats were present on this occasion.

 

The Odisha Festival stood as a testament to the richness of the region's culture, merging art, music, and spirituality in a harmonious tribute to Lord Jagannath.  The 3rd day of Odisha Festival (30th June) will witness a seminar on "Sri Jagannath is the true Asmita of consciousness". This year the seminar will be attended by prominent speakers from Odisha and Bengal followed by Bhajan Sandhya by the members of Odia’s At Kolkata Welfare Association.
