Kidderpore Jagannath Mandir Celebrated Rath Yatra 2025 with Grandeur and Devotion
Kolkata, 28th June 2025: The Kidderpore Jagannath Mandir marked the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra 2025 with grandeur, devotion, and vibrant cultural festivities. The celebrations began on 27th June with a colourful and devotional roadshow — the Rath Yatra procession — which proceeded from the Jagannath Temple in Kidderpore to Northern Park, Bhawanipur, where the deities will reside till 5th July. The highlight of the procession was the traditional Chhera Pahanra ritual, reverently performed by Shri Ram Gopal Bansal, Chairman of BMW Industries Ltd. This age-old tradition symbolizes humility and service to the divine.
The grand procession was accompanied by devotional Kirtan Mandalis and the rhythmic Ghanta-Shankh Badan performed by a troupe sponsored by the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), under the patronage of the Government of West Bengal and the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. These cultural displays brought alive the spiritual significance of the occasion and engaged devotees and onlookers alike. Rath Yatra, one of the most revered festivals in Hinduism, commemorates Lord Jagannath’s annual journey to his aunt’s residence, symbolizing inclusivity, divine love, and spiritual unity.
This joyous celebration reflected a profound commitment to preserving cultural heritage while fostering a sense of collective devotion. The event drew a large number of devotees and participants from across the city and beyond, reaffirming Kolkata's rich spiritual and cultural traditions.
